The beautiful and green island of Thassos lies in the north Aegean Sea . The village Panagia is 7km away from the capital, Limenas (Thassos) and 22km from Skala Prinou. In the past, it used to be the capital of the island producing its own currency, until the nineteenth century.

The village was named after the eighteenth century Church of the Blessed Virgin Panagia, which was famous for its wonderful Byzantine wall paintings. The Church celebrates on the 15 th August.

The village is located 300m above sea level and surrounded by dense, green forests of plane, chestnut, pine and olive trees.

In Panagia you will find a taxi service, a health center, a small shopping center, which can supply everything you need, cafeterias and taverns where you may enjoy a variety of local specialities.

On top of all is the annual cultural celebrations that last 15 days including concerts, theater , theatre of shades, folklor dances, beach parties, etc.
